Best hardware to build Yocto Project
- CPU Ryzen 9950X with
- 64 GB DDR5 RAM and
- 2 TB Samsung 990PRO PCI-e 4.0 disk
- Ubuntu 24.04 (native or Dockerfile)
The overhead of doing the build in a Docker vs. native is only 1% and while the average build time with native Ubuntu 24.04 was 18 minutes 52 seconds it is only 19 minutes and 5 seconds (delta of 13 seconds) with the Docker container.
