List the files shipped by your recipe

List the packages built by your recipe and shipped in the rootfs to verify that the recipe is doing what you think

oe-pkgdata-util list-pkg-files -r base-files

This example will show the files installed by the recipe base-files into the rootfs :

base-files:
 /etc/fstab
 /etc/host.conf
 /etc/hostname
 /etc/hosts
 /etc/issue
 /etc/issue.net
 /etc/motd
 /etc/mtab
